In the classroom, at home, in a distance learning environment, Wacom tablets are making a difference in the way kids learn.

Interactive Classroom

Wacom's interactive pen displays and tablet products help turn static material into active content that engages students and encourages their contributions.

Today’s interactive classroom aims to enrich and deepen student understanding by making learning more interactive and engaging. Students are no longer just recipients of information but are active contributors. Teachers need the flexibility to incorporate spontaneous and new information into their lessons as the discussion evolves.

Wacom’s interactive pen displays and tablet products help turn static material into active and engaging content. Communicate visually by marking up and annotating digital content. Add drawings, sketches and diagrams quickly and easily to elaborate on key concepts. Capture new ideas and integrate them into the conversation. Students can provide their input directly or demonstrate their understanding of a subject to the class.

Our pen displays and tablets are extremely easy and intuitive to use – letting the class focus on their content, not the technology they are using.

DTU Interactive Pen Displays

DTU-2231 front

Wacom’s family of interactive pen displays are extremely intuitive because you write or draw directly on-screen, on top of whatever you are viewing on the display but with all the ease of writing on paper. When connected to a computer and projector, they provide a similar functionality as interactive whiteboards, but with additional benefits.

  • Teachers can stay connected with their students. Even as they interact with their lesson plans, teachers can maintain visual contact with the class. Whiteboards cause teachers to turn their back to students, potentially missing raised hands or visual clues about whether students comprehend the material.
  • Our pen displays encourage greater class participation because they are more accessible. Unlike with interactive whiteboards (IWB), even younger students can reach content regardless of where it is on the projected surface. No more limiting content to the bottom of the screen or positioning the IWB low enough for students to reach but not easily visible by the class.
  • Content isn’t blocked. Short-throw projectors have helped address the issue of shadows for IWBs, but when you stand up at the whiteboard your body still blocks the view by students.
  • While the projected image the class sees can remain large, the pen display still offers a generous surface to work on. Its scale is smaller, more comfortable and easier to work on.
  • Wacom's interactive pen displays are software-neutral. They can be used with any of your favorite software applications.
  • The pen display isn’t confined to a fixed location. If it is deployed on a cart with a projector, you have a mobile solution that can be moved to wherever it is needed.

Bamboo Tablets

Wacom offers two configurations of tablets for classroom use: wired and wireless. Each can help enhance learning in today’s interactive classes.

Wireless Tablet

Bamboo Capture
Wacom’s Bamboo tablet, when equipped with a wireless module, gives you freedom and mobility to interact with digital lesson content from anywhere in the classroom. It can be used in conjunction with pen displays and interactive whiteboards or can serve as the sole device for teachers and students to interact with content being projected from their PC.
  • Teach from anywhere in the class. Control the lesson plan from the best location or move about the classroom, using the opportunity to observe students and their reactions.
  • Allow students to take control, even from their desk. Engage students and involve them in the lesson. Observe and gauge their mastery of the material.
  • Students that are not comfortable coming to the front of the class to present or work out a problem can present from the comfort of their own desk.
  • The tablet helps eliminate reach issues (for younger students) and accessibility concerns associated with whiteboards.
  • Mobility extends beyond the walls of a single classroom. Because the wireless tablet is small and portable, it can be moved to and used in any classroom that has a projector or large display on which to share content.
  • Wacom’s wireless tablet solution supports touch for navigation and multi-finger gestures for additional flexibility.

Wired Tablets

Bamboo Connect

Wacom’s Bamboo tablets can be connected to a computer with a USB cable. Being connected directly to the PC does not provide the same mobility as the wireless configuration, but the pen functionality is the same and provides students with an optimal instrument for writing and drawing. Students can have all the benefits of digital content, but still have an experience like working with pencil on paper.

  • It is a great solution in lab environments where each student has their own computer.
  • Expression of math and science equations is natural using a pen.
  • Tablets support handwriting. Younger students might be learning basic writing. More advanced students might be focused on learning a foreign language.

Bamboo Stylus for Slates

Bamboo Stylus - Blue

Slates like the iPad and various Android devices are becoming more common in today’s classroom. For some activities, especially those that involve writing, the use of a stylus is more comfortable and convenient than continuously using your fingertip. Wacom’s Bamboo stylus works on the slate’s touch screen but has the look and feel of a nice pen.

  • Better control and precision for activities like writing, drawing and note taking.
  • More closely mimics writing with a pen or pencil for those students who are just learning to write.
  • Greater comfort when using your slate for extended periods of time.
  • Works on the iPad and other devices with capacitive touchscreens.
