Wacom Expands Electronic Signature Solution Set

Acquisition of Florentis’ (UK) business assets, client contracts and software IP provides valuable software development expertise and resources to support Wacom electronic signature devices

Tokyo, Japan and Vancouver, Wash. – Apr. 29, 2011 – Wacom® Company, Ltd. is widening its solution set in the growing electronic signature market by adding software to its already existing signature tablet line. By acquiring the software, client contracts and assets of Florentis (United Kingdom), a leading software developer for electronic signature technologies, Wacom is better positioned to deliver enhanced services to its customers moving forward. Founded in 2000 to provide software development services, Florentis has created their own family of ready-to-use applications and software development kits that allow electronic handwritten signatures to be handled cost-effectively without paper.

Wacom intends to start delivering simple, easy-to-install signature solutions to small and medium businesses in 2011 and continue to grow large-scale electronic signature opportunities with its well-established software partners CIC, Softpro and Xyzmo.

Wacom's signature tablets can be found in a variety of customer-facing scenarios. From retail banking, hospitality and healthcare applications to Point-of-Sale (POS) transactions, Wacom has a solution to optimize, secure and facilitate electronic workflows wherever documents are filled out, signed and verified.

Wacom's Signature Tablets

Wacom's signature tablet lineup consists of three tablets; the STU-520, STU-500 and STU-300. Each tablet is designed to capture an electronic signature, replacing the need for a signature on paper. The tablets help lower costs and eliminate the inefficiencies associated with paper documentation, such as printing, storing and internal/external sharing. Wacom signature tablets deliver outstanding longevity through their patented pen technology that never needs batteries or a cord to carry an electronic signal. Since no electronic signals are passed through the Wacom pen tether, pen operation cannot be affected by damage to the tether. In addition, Wacom pen technology, unlike resistive technologies, is not impacted by wear or scratches to the screen surface.
