Pressure Control Buttons

Nearly every brush in Photoshop has pressure sensitive controls that are activated when you use a Wacom pen. This provides maximum control when drawing masks, painting effects and retouching.

It’s even easier for you to add pressure sensitive control to your brushes in CS6 through the use of pressure control buttons on the option bar.

Drawing and Painting

Photoshop offers a variety of tools for drawing and painting to help you get the exact effect you want with the maximum control you need.

The Bristle Tip brushes in Photoshop simulate the physical characteristics and behavior of traditional paint brushes. When applied with a Wacom pen, the pressure and tilt sensitive Mixer Brush gives you realistic looking painterly effects. Adobe adds two new exciting brush tips in CS6: Erodible and Airbrush Tips.

Erodible Tips simulate dry media that wears down naturally with each successive pen stroke, such as pencils, pastels and chalk.

Airbrush Tips replicate a “sprayed” look like that of an airbrush or can of spray paint.

Also new in Photoshop CS6, tablet users can take advantage of a whole new “dynamic”: the ability to control brushes with a pen.

Shape Dynamics also gets a new Brush Projection feature. This enables users to alter the shape of static tip brushes with the pen-tilt and rotation capabilities in Wacom’s pen tablets and interactive pen displays.

A new Oil Paint filter offers photographers and artists a great starting point when turning photos into paintings. With Oil Paint, you can vary the level of stylization and cleanliness (or smoothness) of the virtual brush being applied, as well as a variety of depth, detail and lighting effects.

Productivity Improvements

When it comes to changing the overall size of brushes, users have plenty of options. A favorite among tablet and pen display users is the Touch Ring. With a quick swipe of a finger around the ring, users can quickly increase or decrease the size of a brush and opacity. And, for those whose tablet offers multi-touch functionality, you can combine your use of Wacom's ExpressView reminders with multi-touch input to perform common tasks with gestures, such as panning and zooming.

Lightroom

Incorporating Adobe Photoshop Lightroom into your workflow allows you to simplify and cut time at every stage of editing and image management. Lightroom helps you to efficiently organize your photos and do 90% of your edits quickly and efficiently, leaving the heavy lifting to Photoshop.

Multi-Touch

Combined with pen input, tablet users can also take advantage of multi-touch input to perform common tasks with quick hand gestures that help you keep your eyes more on your screen and less on the keyboard, giving you a smoother, more efficient workflow.
