How Can We Help?
When I teach I sometimes feel disconnected from my students.
This can happen when working with traditional blackboards, whiteboards or projected content. Because the board is at the front of the classroom, you often need to turn your back to your students to work on the board or just to see and refer to the information. Unfortunately, when you do this you lose eye contact with the class, reducing your ability to read facial and body language that indicate comprehension, and possibly missing raised hands.
Wacom offers products that help you overcome this key communication challenge. Our pen displays allow you to work directly on your content, but can be positioned anywhere within the classroom, including facing the class. Our wireless tablets give you the mobility to move about the classroom as you teach.
I want the freedom to adjust my lesson plan based on input I get from my students.
With Wacom’s interactive solutions, you can let the conversation lead the direction of the class.
You don’t have to be locked into your prepared content. Write, draw and annotate to incorporate new material or ideas. If students need additional information or examples, you can create them on the fly to solidify their comprehension.
I would like to increase my students' engagement and participation.
Students that are actively engaged exhibit greater concentration and comprehension. Use interactive technology to create lessons that maintain students’ attention and encourage participation. You can integrate content as you're teaching it, including resources on the web. And because your working surface is separate from the projected image, you can add your information comfortably while projecting your content large enough for any venue.
We are on a limited budget and can’t afford an interactive whiteboard in each class, but would like to make interactive resources available.
Wacom’s products do not have to be installed as a stationary fixture. All you need is a computer, a Wacom interactive pen display or tablet, and a projector or other large display so that the entire class can see. If the computer, projector or pen display are mounted on a cart, your interactive classroom technology is mobile and can be moved from class to class as needed.
iPads and other slates are being used with increasing frequency. For many of the tasks, especially writing and drawing, students using their fingers doesn’t seem to be the best practice or the most comfortable.
Using your fingers on touchscreens is great for some things, not so great for others. Writing by hand is one of those activities where having a pen or a stylus makes things much easier. Wacom’s Bamboo Stylus is a stylus that works on the capacitive touchscreen of iPad and other slate devices on the market and provides the ergonomics and comfort of using a pen.
I’m working with remote students. How do I stay connected with them and allow the presentations to remain free-flowing and support spontaneous material?
An interactive pen display is like having a whiteboard on your desk. Intuitive and easy to use, you work directly on your digital content. Solve equations, incorporate thoughts and ideas as they arise, draw diagrams – all in real-time. You can start with your base material, but the ability to mark up and annotate allows you to let the instruction follow the direction of the discussion. Remote students get the benefits of in-class instruction.
