JC Little has been making people laugh with her drawings all her life. Just ask the devoted viewers of her animated TV series My Life ME.
JC concepted and directed My Life ME, among other professional accomplishments. But professional accomplishments aside, it was her personal blog, The Animated Woman, that got our attention. Here’s what JC has to say:
“I love capturing a feeling in a drawing, whether poignant or funny, that people can relate to and feel included in. It’s such a huge part of me, it’s impossible to imagine my life without it, and that goes for my own art and the art of others.
“I couldn’t do the style that I do on my blog without my Wacom. And it’s not just drawing; the tool sets, such as select, transform, color correction, and so on, are easier to adjust precisely with the pen tablet. It feels more natural for me to hold the pen, and so I have greater control with it than the position my hand is in over a mouse or track pad. I can rotate my wrist, add pressure, and create my art with subtlety and precision.”
So what makes her drawings so engaging? We think it’s that JC connects with her audience. She adds, “I attribute this to a certain nuance of line quality that comes easily when I use the pen tablet. My style is so simple; it’s accessible and uncomplicated without being naive. The drawings almost feel like they’re already there and I’m just revealing them. Without the pen tablet, I wouldn’t be able to do this.”
