SIAF2024 in Connected Ink

Nobutaka(Nobu) Ide, Daisuke Nazuka, Sakura Yamamoto

The Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF) will be held in Sapporo in 2024. Wacom will participate in SIAF as an initiative partner, responding to the SIAF concept of "LAST SNOW" with the concept of "Last Ink". We invite our friends from the SIAF who have been working closely with us on the preparations and introduce the various highlights of the collaboration between Wacom and SIAF.

Frightened in the Forest

Nobutaka(Nobu) Ide, Yohei Koike, Shin Imai, Hajime Fukuda, Tsuyoshi Kaseda, Midori Ide

Animator Yohei Koike will be invited to present a new type of motion art that crosses digital technology with human physical expression. The physical expression by performers (Tsuyoshi Kaseda and MIDORI) based on martial arts and contemporary will be animated and performed with an animated "other self". Hajime Fukuda's original music will support the stage, and IGN deputy editor Imai will join them to talk about "What is the value of new motio?

WacomVRPen Tracking Technology

Hiroshi Fujioka, Kei Aoki

Will introduce the latest status of Wacom's new XR business ”VR Pen project” and 3D space Pen tracking technology, as well as the talk about importance of tracking technology for Wacom's XR business inviting tech partner "3D incoporated".

Wacom Yuify Update

Ryo Inaba, Hirotaka Suzuki, Jeff, Ko, Ryoji Ishii

Celsys x Wacom joint talk session to discuss ”Wacom Yuify”, a new service under development for secure record of creation and beyond. 
Talk participants will provide basic introduction of Wacom Yuify first and then share current service development status. Future plans of Wacom Yuify will be discussed as well, including possibility of adding new value/features of "KISEKI Art ", another ongoing research project.

LIMITS High School Exhibition

Saitama Sakae High School, Eiri Girl's High School, Masaaki Fujita, ktym

LIMITS, the Freestyle battle of Creative. Within 20 minutes, creators challenge  and go beyond their limits of creative expression. The first LIMITS High School tournament was held in August 2023, with 100+ high school students from multiple genres such as fine art, manga, animation, and 3D. At this Connected Ink 2023, We will see an exhibition by the winner and the runner-up of this LIMITS High School tournament. 

Creative Community Challenge - THU x Wacom x Connected Ink

Nobutaka(Nobu) Ide, Shuzo Shiota, Andre Luis

Trojan Horse was a Unicorn (THU), a community that aims to realize a more creative world, will present a story telling session with Wacom about their encounter and future development, based on the theme that there is always a story at the root of creativity. The event will also introduce examples of THU Japan held in Kaga City, a city where Japan's proud traditions and culture intersect.

KISEKI ART 2023 “Deepening”

A new recording method for the 'KISEKI' (trajectory) for digital art is now possible. By timestamping implicit parameters during the creative activity, we try to capture the implicit process and visualize hidden operations by AI, giving users a deeper insight into artwork from different angles.
In KISEKI ART 2023 'Deepening', we aim to uncover the depth of thought hidden in the whitespace of creative journey.

Shirogumi's remote production

Harunobu Fujii, Momiji, Tatsunori Kato, Nobutaka(Nobu) Ide

Introduce examples of the use of remote desktop to support Shirogumi's content production, and the latest information of Project Mercury, which is currently under development.

Wacom is taking on the challenge of creating new ways of learning from various perspectives, regardless of whether they are digital or analog, in educational settings throughout Japan. Case studies from Hamamatsu Gakugei High School in Shizuoka Prefecture, Omiya Koryo High School in Saitama Prefecture, and Saitama Sakae High School, also in Saitama Prefecture, via live broadcast from the sites and with invited guests.

Last Ink Drawing Experience

Wacom is an initiative partner of the Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF). At SIAF, which will be held from January 2024, Wacom will create a unique drawing experience space based on the Last Ink concept. In this zone, you will be able to experiecne a prototype in support of the Digital Stationery Consortium (DSC).

Try All Wacom devices+Workshop

Wacom's entire pen tablet/display family, available to try, will be exhibited. In addition, Animation Making Workshops will be held on November 18, the first session from 13:30 to 15:00, and the second from 15:30 to 17:00, with 8 participants each. Applicants will be accepted on a first-come basis at the booth on November 17 or on the day of the seminar.

Following our last year's journey, KISEKI ART team  is thrilled to share our latest research on visualizing the implicit process of creative activities and providing new art expressions in VR chat enhanced by KISEKI data.There will also be a booth where visitors can try out the latest prototype of the Wacom VRPen, and experience Wacom's commitment to virtual space in all its glory.

Last Ink Drawing Experience

Wacom is an initiative partner of the Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF). At SIAF, which will be held from January 2024, Wacom will create a unique drawing experience space based on the Last Ink concept. Since joining CELSYS in 2012, Ryo Inaba has been developing various features of CLIP STUDIO PAINT, inclusing iPad version. As Board Director, he currently manages entire Engineering of Celsys.

Hirotaka Suzuki

For many years, Hirotaka Suzuki has been focusing on UI/UX technologies for multiple kinds of devices. He believes in the power of design engineering for a higher utility value.

Ryoji Ishii

As well as being in charge of financial planning & analysis, Ryoji Ishii is also leading Wacom Yuify project in Japan. He is engaged in a project of Wacom Yuify, a service for record of creation and contexts by artists.

Yohei Koike

Yohei Koike worked as a character animator for 5 years in the cinematic division of Blizzard Entertainment, and later worked for 2 years at Walt Disney Animation Studio. He is also known  as the founder of Anitoon, the first animation online school in Japan,  actively involved in the field of next-generation education.
